There you have it....
Well here it is... a "short" story on what I've been doing lately. I dare you to read it all...
It's been a while since I've written an entry. Why it took so long I'll tell you later.
Right now I am in the train to Eindhoven. Got on in Roermond, where I work now. Currently I feel a bit paranoid. Normally I buy a two-way ticket Blerick-Roermond and since two days I have a ticket that is valid during a period of a month. That is why I forgot to buy a ticket in Roermond. I'm hoping no train conductor asks for my ticket 'cause it'll cost me 35 Euro. I could get out the first station the train stops, but that means that the train would leave without me and I'll miss my appointment.
I'm on my way to my own apartment (for a few more hours at least) for a final inspection with the guy renting me the apartment. I doubt it'll be ok though. During moving something fell against the door and made a small hole, which I tried to cover up. I also damaged 3 stairs (and my fingers) by trying to get the washing machine down the stairs.
Skavenger and me moved nearly 3 weekends ago. We had to rent a van on the last day before moving. We got extremely lucky there still was one available or we should have moved last weekend :S
During that weekend we worked for 16 hours both days non-stop without only a few moments of rest. The weekend after that we went to the Lowlands festival. It was great of course. We saw lots of bands including Mew, Bluegrass Boogiemen, Corvus Corax and Muse. These bands were in my opinion the best ones (that I saw). We also froze and laughed out asses off watching MI:3 in an open air theatre at 2 a.m. in the morning. MI:3 is unlike all 3rd movies in a trilogy not the worst off them. They are all equally bad.
After lowlands we both got the flue, as 80% of the people at lowlands according to a poll on the internet did. Me with my new job thought it would be a bad Idea calling in sick so I went, envying Skavenger, who had a week of vacation left. I had planned on having a vacation myself but with a new job and all...
Anyway I still haven't unpacked. I've been feeling tired after all this with only the weekends to recuperate. I haven't had the time to do much of anything, resulting in no blog-updates etc. I first need to get rid of this enormous mess to feel free to do something else.
Nearly in Eindhoven. No checking of tickets yet. It's looking better by the minute. Just when I was writing this the door opened... Passengers only. Phew!
Ah Eindhoven... Thank god for lazy conductors.
...
This would have been a good ending to this entry but wait there is more...
The owner of the house was ok with my apartment. Didn't notice the damage. I handed him the keys and left. Feeling strange. Eindhoven is no longer my town. But before I left I checked my mailbox. The city had sent me a letter...
[BACK FLASH]
Oh wait...
[SIDE FLASH]
A conductor passed me. I realized I do have a ticket but forgot to stamp it making it currently invalid. Risking a fine I chased after him. Luckily we just left Eindhoven and he was ok with it.
[/SIDE FLASH]
So in this back flash...
...September 2005...
I go register myself at the new address. In city hall I go, number 24b... "No sir, there is no 24b, just 24." Problem was it is a new house divided in apartments and the city appears not to know this. So what else can I do. I register at 24 and notify the owner of the apartment.
[FORWARD FLASH]
...May 2006...
My father gets a letter from my city telling him they have lost me. Apparently the new guy that came to live at nr. 24 was asked who else lived at nr 24. That is not me so they didn't know where I was. I "move" to 24b and all is ok. Or is it...
[FORWARD FLASH]
...June 2007... Oh no.. just 2006 still.
I get a 6 Euro fine and a notice saying I should have paid taxes dated February. No explanation to what I should be paying for. Now I know they wanted me to pay taxes for a multiple person household. This is strange. I never lived with anyone together in Eindhoven and they didn't even knew where I lived in February!
I never got the original bill and I refuse to pay the fine of 6 Euro and I refuse to pay a bill that is not correct and not even specified.
So I send a complaint to the city. Later I get a mail saying they are taking it into consideration. I get it in Eindhoven while I asked if they would send it to Venlo. Anyway I'll have to wait what they say. They'll respond within a year max.
[NO MORE FLASHING]
...Today...
Today I find a letter signed the 14th of August, dated the 17th (AFTER I officially moved to Venlo on the 10th!), sent by the city. They have ordered me (by order of the queen) to pay the money, including extra bailiff costs of 49 Euro, making it a total of 344 Euro. Oh and I have 2 days (until the 19th of august) to pay.
FFS!
