Ribbit!

Frogs. Toads. And more Toads and frogs.
I did not see Kermit though.

Today it was nice weather and I got up early to check out the fishing pond near here. I went there, talked to people and heared the guy selling permits would be there at around 1 a.m. So I went back home, had breakfast, made Skavenger drag her butt out of bed and we both went to the pond carrying fishing equipment. He could not sell it to me there but allowed me to fish anyway.

I did not catch anything :(

But the water was way too cold still. Of the 24 people fishing that were fishing there, only 5 caught fish. And they all knew the pond, where to fish and where not. So it was not a shame.
I had a good time anyway. I saw some fish swim by and one 80-90 cm snoek swimming in the vicinity. Those snoeks eat nearly every fish. But they also eat frogs and tiny little ducks...

This one I think had fed on frogs all morning already I think. There were about 200 frogs and toads there. All doing the dirty thing. The snoek did not care. I did. After realizing I had nearly stepped on a couple of them, and seeing that every few yards there was a new one, I was very careful not to step on any of em. All around me I heard the dirty thing going on and they were even in the bushes. No doubt about it. It was frog mating season.

This evening I went to the guys home who sold the fishing permits and sold it to me. On the way back... 1 kilometer away from that pond I nearly stepped on a toad.
He told me "Ribbit" and moved on. I hope he makes that pond without getting run over.
